David joined the New Hampshire Association for the Blind as President & CEO in late 2015 following nearly ten years of service as the Vice President of Perkins School for the Blind and General Manager of Perkins Products. His efforts helped transform Perkins Products into a leading assistive technology, consulting, and training firm serving thousands of children and adults with visual impairment and a range of disabilities. He also led the development and introduction of the Perkins SMART Brailler which helps children, parents, and teachers learn and teach braille. David was involved in expanding mission-based revenue and services in the US and internationally. Prior to Perkins, David was the President of BE Semiconductor's US Operations located in Londonderry. He was educated in NH with a BA from Daniel Webster College and an MBA from the University of New Hampshire with other post graduate work at the University of Phoenix and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He is married and has five children.

Vice President for Finance & Administration

Nathalie joined the New Hampshire Association for the Blind as Vice President for Finance and Administration in May of 2014. Prior to this, she was the Director of Finance for the University Of New Hampshire School Of Law in Concord for five years.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University and is a current member of the New Hampshire Society of Accountants.

Vice President for Development

Shelley joined the New Hampshire Association for the Blind as Vice President for Development in June of 2006. Prior to this, she served as the Executive Director for the Greater White Mountain Chapter of the American Red Cross and helped facilitate the merger with the American Red Cross, Granite Chapter in Concord. Shelley is a “certified fundraising executive” and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in marketing as well as an MBA and Master’s Degree in Community Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University.

Nancy has been with the New Hampshire Association for the Blind since October of 1999. Her prior experience includes 10 years working in the field of rehabilitation in acute hospital facilities. Nancy is responsible for overseeing the direct service programs provided through the NHAB. She is active in the professional membership organization AERBVI and has been on the Board of Directors of the Northeast Chapter since 2000, including serving a term as President. She is also a member of the NH Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

C.Martinez

Cary joined the New Hampshire Association for the Blind as Director of Vision Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy Services in April of 2016. Her prior experiences include ten years working in the field of pediatric development and adult neurological, rehabilitation services. Cary has also worked in the field of low vision rehabilitation since 2014. Cary received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of New England.

Andrea received her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies of Deaf Studies, as well as her M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Maine, Orono. She has ten years of teaching experience as a special education teacher and consultant with children birth-21. Andrea is finishing her M.Ed. in Vision Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She has teaching certifications in General Special Education and Blindness/Vision Disabilities. Andrea recently located to New Hampshire from Maine to join the Education team at NHAB and works with school-aged children.

Bio pic of Denise Caruso

Since 2001, Denise has been a low vision therapist/rehabilitation therapist for The New Hampshire Association for the Blind. Prior to Denise’s employment with NHAB, she worked as an optometric assistant, optician and ophthalmic technician.

Denise has trained at The Lighthouse International in Manhattan and is certified through The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.

Donna Fanny, Volunteer Coordinator, joined the NHAB team in May, 2014. Her prior experience includes 12 years as Program Coordinator for the Friends RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program). She was responsible for recruiting, training and placing volunteers into nonprofit agencies throughout Merrimack County. Here at NHAB her responsibilities are to recruit and train volunteers to meet the needs of clients as well as the organization as a whole. Donna has been a member of NHAVA (New Hampshire Association for Volunteer Administrators) for many years. She has attended the NH Governor’s conference on Volunteerism for the past 13 years and in 2008 was nominated for Volunteer Manager of the Year. Donna is well respected by the volunteers she has worked with in the past and comes to us with a variety of skills and talents.

David joined the Association in February 2015. David brings 15 years of Dog Guide Mobility experience having worked for The Seeing Eye as an instructor and community instructor. David earned his BA in Biology from Carson Newman University and MA in Orientation and Mobility from Western Michigan University.

David works with and instructs people with visual impairment to develop their remaining senses and travel safely within their environment. David works to promote and enhance independence through Orientation and Mobility instruction.

Jennifer has been with the New Hampshire Association for the Blind since March 2000. She works with adults and seniors in setting up vision rehabilitation services. She assists with NHAB peer support groups. Jennifer also enjoys working closely with the VA Medical Hospitals in NH and VT serving blind and visually impaired veterans. Jennifer is also responsible for working with NH school districts planning and putting together services for visually impaired and blind students.

Bio pic of Jewett OConnor

Jewett O’Connor has been an O&M Specialist and Rehabilitation Teacher at NHAB since 1994. He earned a Masters in O&M from Boston College in 1980 and gained certification as a rehab teacher through coursework at the University of Massachusetts, which he completed in 1995. Jewett provides low vision services as well as RT and O&M instruction, working primarily with older adults.

Susan is an ACVREP certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Bucknell University and a Master’s in Education/ Orientation & Mobility from the University of Massachusetts/Boston. Since 2005, Susan has worked for the NH Association for the Blind teaching O&M skills to school aged students. She is currently a board member-at-large for the Northeast AERBVI (Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of Blind and Visually Impaired Individuals.)

A native of Cape Cod, Nancy received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts. She holds teaching certifications in Elementary Education, General Special Education, and Blindness/Vision Disabilities, and is an ACVREP certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist. Nancy joined the Education team at NHAB in 2007 and works with school-aged children in several school districts.
