Many of us find this holiday season one of self-reflection.  Sometimes, that leads to thinking about professional development or future career changes. If you’re an educator or in the education field considering pursuing a Master’s degree, we have some food for thought.

UMASS Boston’s Vision Studies Program, within the School for Global Inclusion and Social Development, is recruiting now for graduate applicants.  It’s the only online program in New England that offers graduate degrees that lead to credentialing as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI), or as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M). They have grant funding to address a regional – and national – shortage of teachers and related professionals with specialized knowledge and training in visual impairments.  This means if you meet admission and grant scholarship requirements, you may be eligible for tuition support. This Vision Studies program uses a combination of web-based courses, (and one in-person course for Orientation & Mobility Specialists), and field-based activities.   What’s more, you could work for Future In Sight as part of your practicum with an opportunity for additional scholarship support.

Applications are due no later than March 1, 2021.  Give yourself the gift of learning more about these opportunities by attending one of the webinars hosted by the Vision Studies team at UMASS Boston.

They are hosting several webinars prior to the application deadline. Register today for one of the three upcoming online  Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI)  informational sessions (held at 4 pm 12/8/2020, 1/12/2021, 2/9/2021) or one of the two Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) informational sessions (held at 4pm on 12/15/2020 and 1/19/2021).
