SUMMARY:Making Your Home Work for You\, Using Smart Home Technology *ADULTS 55+ ONLY*
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will share information on how current smart home technologies can benefit the blind and low vision community. This will include the use of smart speakers and a voice assistant (i.e.: Alexa) for tasks around the home (maintain your calendar\, stay up on news\, set a timer) and will address how these systems can promote Aging in Place. \nThe workshop will be held in Nashua\, NH. \nParticipants must live in NH\, be 55 or older\, be able to provide a recent eye report\, and have a corrected acuity no greater than 20/50. \nTo apply for a spot in an upcoming Tech Workshop\, contact 603-224-4039 or services@futureinsight.org.* \n*Space in these workshops is VERY limited. Someone from Future In Sight will be in contact to complete the paperwork necessary to ensure that you qualify. DESCRIPTION:Future In Sight has partnered with the State of New Hampshire to provide resources that empower and encourage individuals with disabilities to have representation in the upcoming election by exercising their right to vote. \nTo make sure you are prepared to make your voice heard\, attend this live virtual training on how to use the OmniBallot Tablet. The OmniBallot was created to make voting accessible to individuals with a range of disabilities (including vision loss and hearing loss) so they may cast their vote in the same private and dignified manner as voters who are not using the system. When a person uses the OmniBallot\, they are not just casting a ballot\, they are also helping to preserve and protect the rights of Americans with disabilities. \nThe OmniBallot Tablet will be available at all polling places for the March local election. \nTo register for this virtual training session and get prepared for the polls\, please call 603-224-4039 or email services@futureinsight.org.
