Creating Tactile Overlays for Books and iPads

Individuals with vision loss are often unable to interact with visual images in a book or on an iPad. Participants will make a tactile overlay for a book and a tactile overlay for the Garage Band App on an iPad. Each participant must bring a book and or an iPad.
Our Adaptive Low Tech DIY Workshops will be facilitated by Therese Willkomm, PhD, ATP. Dr. Willkomm is the director of New Hampshire state wide assistive technology program with the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire. She is also a clinical associate professor in the department of occupational therapy and oversees the on-line graduate certificate program in assistive technology. She has invented over 2000 different assistive technology solutions and authored 22 publications related to creating solutions in minutes using every day materials. She’s known nationally and internationally is the MacGyver of assistive technology and has presented in 42 states and 10 foreign countries.
