Volunteers make a world of difference in the lives of over 1000 clients, who live throughout all counties in the state. The inability to drive is the most significant limiting aspect for a person with a visual impairment, but with the help of a crew of dedicated volunteers, Future In Sight is able to help find transportation for our clients.

If you, or someone you know, would like to receive the benefit/rewards of helping blind and visually impaired residents of New Hampshire, please consider volunteering your time. Future In Sight is always looking for drivers, community visitors, clerical helpers, and volunteers for special events or community education. Below are descriptions of these opportunities. Please know that we are always open to new ideas for volunteer opportunities that will serve our clients and staff.

Drivers assist with transporting individuals to and from appointments or stores; program drivers provide rides for a number of blind or visually impaired persons to and from Future In Sight programs.

In Home/Community Visitor

Volunteer visitors are matched with a specific client and provide companionship and assistance with reading, completing paperwork, going on walks, shopping, or other tasks as needed.

Many volunteers are both drivers and visitors. All volunteers who will directly assist clients are provided the necessary training needed to assist those with vision loss.

Office Support

Clerical helpers assist in various ways in our Concord Office.  Many help with mailings, data entry, making phone calls, covering the front desk and other administrative duties.

Special Events and Community Education

Some volunteers provide help with our special events such as fundraisers and programs for clients. Duties vary according to the needs of each event and the abilities of each volunteer.   Some volunteers also give presentations about vision loss and the Agency's work at community events or health fairs.

Volunteer Ambassadors

Future In Sight is currently seeking volunteers to participate as a member of one of its 3 Regional Advisory Committees. The Agency has implemented a Seacoast, Manchester, and Central NH Advisory Board to expand its statewide mission of providing training, rehabilitation, and services to those experiencing vision loss or blindness.

These three Advisory Committees meet once a month to raise our profile and help expand services to a growing market, despite limited resources. Through these committees, the members act as ambassadors for the organization by helping to identify and plan fundraising events, reaching out, spreading awareness and presenting information about blindness and low vision to members of the community at large so they will develop a better understanding of the mission of Future In Sight. If you would like to attend a meeting, become a member or would like additional information, please call the Development office at (603) 565-2427. Opportunities are also available for people who would like to become an ambassador and start a Regional Advisory Committee in their community.
