CONCORD, NH (March 1, 2017) – Today, New Hampshire Association for the Blind announced it will be transitioning to a new name – Future In Sight. The Concord-based nonprofit organization works with those who are blind and visually impaired, helping them develop the skills to live independent, fulfilling lives at home, at work, at school, and in the community.
“We are elated to share this news,” said David Morgan, Future In Sight’s President and CEO. “We believe our new name, Future In Sight, better represents how our organization has grown and adapted to changing needs and demographics. In addition to serving those in New Hampshire, we now provide services in bordering states, and 93 percent of our clients are visually impaired – not blind – so we believe that our new name more accurately reflects the larger community we seek to serve.”
Media is invited today to Future In Sight, 25 Walker St., in Concord, N.H., from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. to speak with David Morgan as the new name is launched.
In 2016, the organization helped 1,100 individuals in New Hampshire and another 125 from outside the Granite State. But, there is much room, and need, to grow. More than 30,000 people in New Hampshire live with visual impairments, including children and babies in more rural areas of the state who have not yet been served. The over age 65 population in the state is also expected to double in size in the next decade, representing a growing segment that will likely need resources for eye care, rehabilitation services, and access to technology.
By adopting a new name and identity, Morgan said their goal is for the public to learn more about the variety of programs Future In Sight offers to people living with a wide range of visual disabilities, from newborns to the elderly.
As advances are made for the blind and sight impaired, Future In Sight strives to keep up with the latest resources that it can offer including assistance with technology and transportation, medical referrals, occupational therapy, low vision services, educational support to students and school districts, orientation and mobility assistance, support services, and recreational activities. Services are personalized to meet the individual’s unique needs, and no one is turned away for financial reasons. Future In Sight is able to provide services to people in need ranging from babies to senior citizens.

Future In Sight will be hosting its first event, Open Spacing for the Future of Sight, on April 11 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH. The event seeks to spark a productive conversation about the future of eye care, education for those with vision loss, rehabilitation and training, technology, and more. Media is also welcome to attend this event.
For more than three months, Proportion Design of Medford, Mass. assisted in the organization’s rebranding effort, working alongside Future In Sight staff to develop a strong, memorable, and effective brand. Altos Agency, a Bedford, N.H., based agency, also worked on Future In Sight’s website re-design as part of the rebranding.
