SUMMARY:Deep Sea Fishing Boat Excursion *ADULTS & YOUTH*
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the lovely ocean air and time with others during this 2 hour excursion. If possible\, we will have the option to fish. No experience or equipment necessary. \nParticipants should be able to board boats by walking on an angled ramp\, stepping over the side of a boat to board and disembark a boat and are not prone to sea sickness. Whether rain or shine\, we will be going out with the exception of thunderstorms\, at which time participants will be updated. Please dress accordingly. \nThere is no cost for participants\, as it is given to us as a fabulous time by Eastman’s Fishing Fleet. We collect a voluntary tip which will be collected and given to the captain the evening of the activity. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next workshop in our Real World Skill-Building Series which will consist of two simultaneous tracks; one for students who are blind and visually impaired ages 12-24 and one for parents and caregivers. \nThis workshop will be held in-person at Future In Sight in Concord\, NH. A pizza lunch will be provided. \nThere is a back-up date on February 8th in case of snow. \nStudents will practice social skills and self-expression through a fun icebreaker\, dancing\, and taking photos. A cupcake decorating activity will be a delicious way to practice fine motor skills and table setting. Plus\, participants will use braille and assistive technology throughout the day. \nAccessible technology is also the topic of the parent track. Parents will engage in panels and discussions on how technology like magnification\, wearables\, and screen readers can support the independence of youth. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next workshop in our Real-World Skill Building Series which will consist of two simultaneous tracks; one for students who are blind and visually impaired ages 14-22 and one for parents and caregivers. \nThis workshop will be held in-person in Manchester\, NH. \nYOUTH TRACK: Inclusive Hike & Blazing Trails: A college\, employment and volunteer expedition \nFrom the trailhead (starting point) of discovery to the backpack (the gear that is needed)\, the pathway decision to take with any switchbacks (options to assist during the difficult journey); this World Skill Building day will focus on what’s next for students\, career building and employment. Through the expertise of a career counselor\, students will engage in hands on improv games\, instruction and tools to address the best pathways for their futures. We also welcome a panel of enrolled college students\, as well as employed young adults in their 20’s and 30’s who are blind and visually impaired employed successfully in a variety of positions\, some working right out of high school and others after graduating from college\, who will share and answer questions from the students. \n*We’ll complete the day’s journey\, as we all gather for an accessible group nature trail walk and picnic style box lunch (provided)\, led by our own Randy Pierce\, President and CEO of Future In Sight. \nADULT TRACK: Panel and Pathways: What’s Next? \nThis workshop for parents and caregivers of blind and visually impaired transition-age youth will begin with a panel of blind and visually impaired students currently attending college\, as well as successfully employed adults with vision loss. Many journeys toward independence will be represented; some working and/or volunteering right out of high school and others employed after college in their 20’s and 30’s. Questions from your own unique perspectives are welcome\, as panelists will share about their variety of different college and work experiences\, challenges\, strategies and accomplishments.
