To continue its 100th anniversary celebration, the Association went back to its roots on a Sunday in September. Emma Coolidge Weston, a resident of Hancock, NH, is credited with founding what would become the NH Association for the Blind in the very buildings where the 100th event was held.
In collaboration with the Hancock Historical Society the program was held in the Meeting House and included comments from Rev. Judith Copeland, Tim Lord, President of the Hancock Historical Society, Ellena Weston Zimmerman, great niece of Emma as well as George Theriault, President & CEO of the Association. Ellena Weston Zimmerman, gave a spirited account of Emma’s life. In attendance at the event was her granddaughter, Emma Jane Trembly as well as other descendants. An exhibit, showing the Association through its 100 years and a reception were held in the Vestry.
