Notice of Blackbaud Data Breach – August 5, 2020

Blackbaud, a third party software vendor used by many nonprofits, and our vendor for fundraising software, recently notified us of a security incident they have experienced.

At this time, we understand Blackbaud discovered and stopped a ransomware attack. However, prior to locking the cybercriminal out, the cybercriminal removed a copy of our backup file containing your personal information. This occurred at some point beginning on February 7, 2020 and could have been in there intermittently until May 20, 2020.

No social security numbers, credit card or other financial information were compromised.

While we are careful to limit the information we keep in our system, we have determined that the file removed may have contained some public information such as your contact information, demographic information, along with a history of your relationship with our organization, such as donation dates and amounts.

As a best practice, we recommend you promptly report any suspicious activity or suspected identity theft to the proper law enforcement authorities.

In addition to the steps Blackbaud has taken to tighten their security environment, Future In Sight has reviewed its own internal data security controls and reaffirmed that no confidential donor information is kept. Only information that is necessary for reporting is maintained.

We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause you. Should you have any further questions or concerns or want more details on the steps Blackbaud is taking to further increase their cybersecurity, and/or the protections available to you, please do not hesitate to contact Jane Driscoll at 603-565-2427 or by email, [email protected].
