February 2015 – The 6th grade English class at The Derryfield School recently presented Stephanie Hurd of the Association with a check for more than $500 during a recent presentation. After studying the life of Helen Keller with their English teacher, Mrs. Whitmore the 6th grade class broke into three groups and brainstormed ways to raise funds to support the work of the Association. Their brainstorming resulted in a school-wide bake sale, penny wars and an open gym time. Collectively the class raised more than $500. During a recent presentation by our Community Outreach Coordinator, Stephanie Hurd this group was able to learn about the many ways their funds will help those in NH living with low vision or blindness. The New Hampshire Association for the Blind is committed to being the primary organization where individuals, caregivers, family and the medical community can learn more about the wide range of services, information and resources that are available throughout the state.
