Look Good, Feel Good: The Fun Part About Getting Ready for Next Steps and New Adventures!

Come and join us for a fun filled event aimed at teens and young adults (ages 14-22) and their parents/caregivers. The day is meant for the group to learn and interact with each other about unique topics around educational transition services for visually impaired teens and young adults that are not easily found anywhere else.

The youth/young adult activities will be led by staff members from Future In Sight, who specialize in working with and teaching teens and young adults with visual impairments. We will start the day with introductions and ice breakers, to get to know one another and any needs you may have. We will work on orientation and mobility skills as well as social skills as we take a short walk to a local drugstore. In the store, we will spend time exploring and shopping for skincare, grooming and makeup products. We will return to the Future In Sight building for small group sessions that will focus on independent living skills such as: skincare, haircare, and applying and labeling makeup, selecting clothing and even how to tie a tie. The group will come together to wrap up the morning with a session focusing on assistive technology and using it to access social media or other helpful sites and apps for looking and feeling good!

Youth, Young Adults as well as their Parents/caregivers and Future In Sight staff will reconvene and enjoy a picnic lunch with some recreational activities together to celebrate the new adventures that are possible for all.
