Youth track:
Check Into Life Skills: A Hotel Themed Day on Independent Living Skills
An innovative and engaging workshop with a twist, as we transport you to the World Skills Building Day of hotels, where independence and self-reliance are at the forefront! This hotel themed experience will expose students to various facets of independent living from mastering the art of making beds, laundry, vacuuming, to organizing spaces with the precision of a hotel room. We’ll cover essential life skills tailored to empowering and building confidence for students. Lunch will be provided with an afternoon creative activity with clay.
Parent track:
Flight to Independence: Empowering Parents of Blind and Visually Impaired Youth for the Journey Ahead
An enriching and hands-on experience specially designed for parents of blind and visually impaired transition age youth. This dynamic workshop aims to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to support your youth as they prepare to leave the nest and embark on their journey towards independence. Throughout this interactive workshop, we’ll guide you through practical quizzes and engaging activities that explore essential life skills, transition planning, and nurturing self-reliance. You’ll have the opportunity to make personalized checklists to ensure a comprehensive approach tailored to your child’s unique needs and aspirations. Together, we’ll explore the “three Ps” – preparedness, planning, and partnerships. Join us for this transformative workshop, where you’ll gain valuable insights, create personalized action plans, and connect with fantastic resources to help your transition age youth take flight with confidence and independence.
