Real World Skill-Building Workshop: A Heartfelt Valentine’s *AGES 12-24 & THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS*

February 1 @ 9:45 am - 2:00 pm

A young woman attending a workshop and wearing glasses holds up a hand-shaped craft she has created.

Join us for the next workshop in our Real World Skill-Building Series which will consist of two simultaneous tracks; one for students who are blind and visually impaired ages 12-24 and one for parents and caregivers.

This workshop will be held in-person at Future In Sight in Concord, NH. A pizza lunch will be provided.

There is a back-up date on February 8th in case of snow.

Students will practice social skills and self-expression through a fun icebreaker, dancing, and taking photos. A cupcake decorating activity will be a delicious way to practice fine motor skills and table setting. Plus, participants will use braille and assistive technology throughout the day.

Accessible technology is also the topic of the parent track. Parents will engage in panels and discussions on how technology like magnification, wearables, and screen readers can support the independence of youth. Participants will leave the session well-equipped to advocate for their youth and navigate the ever-changing world of accessible technology.

To register to attend, please call 603-224-4039 or email [email protected].

Assistive technology device demonstrations, loans and reuse activities are being supplemented by the ATinNH program. Funding for assistive technology device demonstrations, loans and reuse are provided, in part, under grant 2001NHATSG02 from the Administration for Community Living (ACL) through Assistive Technology in New Hampshire (ATinNH). Learn more about ATinNH here.
