What is the mission of Future In Sight?

Future In Sight strives to transform the lives of more than 6,000 people of all ages who have sight loss statewide by offering them education, training, assistive technology, and support.

Is Future In Sight part of any national organization?

Future In Sight is an independent, statewide organization that provides services throughout New Hampshire. It is fully accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services and is a member agency of VisionServe Alliance, a networking group of 100 leading agencies around the country providing vision rehabilitation services.

How much will services cost me?

The social worker reviews all information collected and then discusses objectives with each person applying for services. Together they agree on an individual service plan. The social worker also explains how our services are provided and how they may be funded. All clients are asked to contribute toward their service at a level they can afford. No one is denied service due to inability to pay.

Are services covered by Medicare or government funding?

Services from occupational therapists are often covered by Medicare Part B, Medicaid, and private insurance plans. Some vision rehabilitation services may be reimbursed via our partnerships with state agencies and school districts. Funding is available through contributions from individuals, foundations, businesses and other service organizations.

May I receive services at my home as well as the Future In Sight Office?

Both are an option – the professional service staff will come to your home, school or place of employment but we also provide low vision evaluations, group support and training programs at our office on 25 Walker Street, Concord NH.

Our licensed and certified Low Vision and Rehabilitation professionals will assist you so that you can maximize any remaining vision you may have. With adaptive aids and devices, they can make simple enhancements in your home that will make food preparation and cooking easier, make reading or watching TV more enjoyable, and relocate items that could be trip & fall hazards.

Occupational Therapists can work with you intensively to provide instruction about modifying daily activities to reduce limitations that your vision loss causes. If you are newly blinded or have deteriorating vision, our trained Orientation & Mobility Specialists provide instruction and training that help you to safely navigate your environment with confidence. Instruction techniques include working with another person who is a sighted guide, as well as learning to use a white cane and Assistive Technology to build up independent travel skills at home, at work, or in the community.

With a diagnosis of profound vision loss, there is a grieving process that occurs. We also provide Counseling to support you as a whole person.

The needs of a person with vision loss. assistive technology, social work services, orientation and mobility, group support and activities, low vision rehab services, occupational therapy.

We work closely with your doctors to provide complete care, and our Occupational Therapist services are often covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.

The Mary Gale Fund through Future In Sight supports low-income women experiencing vision loss and blindness, age 65 or older, living in the Greater Manchester area (Manchester, Bedford, Goffstown, Hooksett, Londonderry, Litchfield, Candia, Auburn) to maintain their independence and/or safety while living in the community.

The Mary Gale Fund has helped pay for services such as rehabilitation, occupational therapy, orientation and mobility, education, and counseling for women experiencing visual impairment or blindness. This fund assists with items generally not covered by any other source such as visual aids and devices.
